Jan 3 SAYRA-RANAKPUR
After breakfast, we begin our trek towards the city of temples, Ranakpur. Today we will be trekking through the reserve forest area which is also very interesting for bird watching.
After a stopover for picnic lunch, we continue our trek to reach the world famous Jain Temples of Ranakpur. The exquisitely carved temple is famous for its hall with 1444 marble pillars of which no two pillars are similar. After visiting the temple we will carry on to reach our hotel that is situated near the temple. Overnight at Hotel Roopam.
Jan 4 RANAKPUR - KUMBHALGARH
After breakfast, we start our journey towards Kumbhalgarh. The path passes through the famous Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary, where you’ll share the woods with leopards, wild boar, buck deer, nilgais, and countless exotic bird species including woodpeckers and horn bills.
We reach our Tented camps for tea and snacks. We end the day by viewing the sunset from the magnificent Kumbhalgarh fort close to our camps. Surrounded by 13 peaks, guarded by seven gates and ramparts, and fortified by rounded bastions and immense watchtowers, the fort is unlike anything you’ve ever witnessed. It is stated to have the second longest wall in the world, the first being ''the Great Wall of China''. Overnight camping at Dera Kumbhalgarh Tented Accommodation’.
Jan 5 KUMBHALGARH - GHANERAO
After breakfast, we start trekking towards the 17th century village of Ghanerao, a small, strategically located spot at the entrance to one of the few passes into the Aravali Mountains. The journey would be mostly down the hill for most of the day. We stop over for picnic lunch at the beautiful Crocodile Lake(Thandi Beri),located in the middle of the reserve area. After lunch we pass through some small tribal settlements and fields where we can see the locals working in their fields and the shepards grazing their camels and cattle.
To reach the castle, our home for the evening, we will navigate narrow, winding roads into the depths of the village. The castle, designed in typical Rajput style, has beautifully carved lattice friezes, marble jharokas, chandeliered rooms, and a nostalgic air of past royal glory. Overnight at Hotel Castle Ghanerao.
Jan 6 GHANERAO - SUMER
After breakfast,we start trekking towards Sumer. This is a pleasant walk through picturesque hamlets and lakes. We get a good chance to peep into the local culture of the region. We stop over for picnic lunch. We pass by numerous ber trees,15-ft cactuses, droves of butterflies, birds and thick forest groves. We reach the forest lodge well in time before dark. The lodge is located near the forest lake, where we may watch wild animals quenching their thirst from the terrace of the lodge after sunset.
